In Homage to Catalonia, Orwell describes how poorly armed and trained his fellow soldiers were.  He writes of the boredom and hunger he endured and of the lice that were everywhere.  Eventually, Orwell was shot in the neck by a sniper and fled Spain for his health and to avoid arrest and imprisonment.

Beret and Pins

Beret and Pins were donated by David Gordon, a member of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade of American volunteers to fight in Spain.
