Open Educational Resources: A Primer

This practical guide provides a framework and tips to enhance inclusion, diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility in Open Educational Resources.

The ASCCC OERI Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Anti-Racism (IDEA) Framework was created to support faculty as they implement a culturally responsive and anti-racist pedagogy.

This book, developed under an Open Textbooks Pilot grant from the U.S. Department of Education, seeks to uncover the ways in which structural racism is deeply embedded in higher education and examine ways to create a more equitable institution.

The Branch Alliance for Educator Diversity (BranchED) prioritizes strengthening, growing, and amplifying the impact of educator preparation programs at minority serving institutions (MSIs), with the broader goals of both diversifying the teaching profession and intentionally championing educational equity for all students.

​The Equity Through OER Rubric is a comprehensive self-assessment tool, designed to guide students, faculty, administrators and other academic practitioners and leaders in not only better understanding, but also acting on the equity dimensions of OER. The rubric is organized by categories, aligned with roles and functions for higher education institutions, units and practitioners. Its overarching goal is to enable users to integrate OER in equitable ways across higher education leading to quality and equitable student access, outcomes and success.

The FLOE Inclusive Learning Design Handbook (ILDH) is a free Open Educational Resource (OER) designed to assist in creating adaptable and personalizable educational resources that can accommodate a diversity of learning preferences and individual needs.

This is a model screening tool to help school districts comply with Washington state nondiscrimination law that requires screening criteria to identify and eliminate bias in all instructional materials as part of any adopted instructional materials policy.
