EndNote Online: A Beginner's Guide

Create a Bibliography

Once you had references in Groups (folders) it is very easy to create a bibliography in APA, MLA, Chicago, among 5000 styles.

1. In EndNote Basic, Select the Format tab >> Bibliography

2. From the References drop-down select the group of references you want

3. Select the Bibliographic style (see below to select Favorites)

4. Select the File format.  I normally select HTML

5. Select one of the options (Save, E-mail or Preview print).  I normally select Preview & Print.  A new window opens and you may copy and paste the bibliography into a document (bibliography is formatted).

EndNote: Select Bibliographic style favorites

On the Format tab >> Bibliography page you can select a style for your bibliography.  When you first choose the drop-down menu you will see all 5000 styles in the list.  To greatly minimize this list you can select favorites.

1. Select "Select Favorites" next to the bibliographic style drop-down menu.  A new box appear on the right.

2. In the All column of this new box find your favorite styles and then select the Copy to Favorites button.

3. All your favorites will now appear in the Favorites column AND they will be the only ones listed in the Bibliographic Style drop-down menu (you may always add more favorites)
