About Yoo Kyung Sung

Yoo Kyung Sung, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in the Department of Language, Literacy, and Sociocultural Studies. She teaches a range of  undergraduate and graduate level children's literature courses. She earned her Ph.D. in Language, Reading, and Culture (LRC) in University of Arizona. Her work focuses on global, cross-cultural, and international children's literature, critical content analysis, transnational identities and literacies, and intercultural curriculum. She served a national children's book award in Notable Children's Books In Language Arts (Children's Literature Assembly) and a committee of Notable Books for Global Society (International Literacy Association, Children's Literature Sig). She also served an elected director of United States Board on Books for Young People (USBBY) and now she is the New Mexico USBBY Ambassador. Currently, she is the committee of the NCTE Children's Poetry Awards Committee and the NCTE Standing Committee on Assessment.
