Meet the Instructor: Kristin Maria
Kristin Maria is from the Ramah Navajo Indian Reservation in Ramah, NM. She currently lives and works in Albuquerque, NM. She is a digital multi-media artist who holds her BFA in Graphic Design from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, NM. She practices multimedia visual communications including graphic design and film using digital media.
She has been awarded numerous merit scholarships and had an apprenticeship with the Southwestern Association for Indian Arts as a Graphic Design Assistant. Maria, also received a micro-grant from Homewise and the One Albuquerque’s Engage program for her film festival directorial debut, Reservation Longing (2019). Her recent work with experimental film includes abstract narratives that deal with themes of family, relationships, death, spirituality, healing and how she identifies herself as a Diné Asdzáá (Navajo Woman) while raising her only son in the city.
