Permalinks

Library Catalog

  • There are currently two different ways to search the UNM University Libraries catalog,
  • Each product has a slightly different way of locating the permalink to the record.
  • The default is set to "Search the UNM University Libraries (New)"
  • Select the other option by choosing the other radio button.
  • Directions for both ways will be explained below.

Search UNM University Libraries (New) - Locating Permalinks

  • When you enter a search for a book, the first screen that comes up is a list of matching records.
  • Many times, this will display the location and call number of the book.
  • If you wish to see the complete record, along with the permalink, click on the title to open.

  • Once the record is open, the permalink creator is in the tool section on the right side of the page.
  • Click on the word Permalink. (See the arrow in the image below.)

  • Once you click on the "Permalink" in the tool links, a new box with the permalink will appear above the title of the record.
  • This also includes the proxy server information so it can be sent to all UNM affiliates whether or not they are on campus. That link will provide access to the record in the database. (See the arrow in the image below.)

Search Libraries Worldwide - Locating permalinks

  • When you enter a search for a book, the first screen that comes up is a list of matching records.
  • Many times, this will display the location and call number of the book.
  • This only lists the first holding of the title, so if you wish to see the complete record click on the title to open.
  • You can still access the permalink from this list. In the lower right of each record is a link button.
  • Click that for the permalink. (See arrow in picture below.)
  • If you do choose to open the record the link box moves ot the upper right corner of the record, but otherwise looks the same.

  • Once you click on it, a new box with the permalink will appear above the record.
  • Copy that link to share the record to the book.
  • This also includes the proxy server information so it can be sent to all UNM affiliates whether or not they are on campus. That link will provide access to the record in the catalog. (See the arrow in the image below.)
