Finding background information about a topic

Of course, we all know that the Wikipedia is a great place to start when you want to learn about a new topic.  Be sure to check the Notes and References sections at the bottom of Wikipedia entries for ideas on resources for further reading and information -- then check our library catalog to see if we have them.
