The Intimate Partner Violence Death Review Team (IPVDRT) is required to submit an annual report each year to the Legislature, the Governor and the leadership at various state agencies.

This project aims to generate a clear and thorough understanding of the scale and dynamics of cases of trafficked, missing, and murdered Native American women and children in Northwestern California, and design and implement a pilot blueprint for tribes to intervene in and prevent such cases. Published July 2020. This project is a collaboration between the Yurok Tribal Court and Sovereign Bodies Institute. Key researchers on the project include Judge Abby Abinanti, Dr. Blythe George, and SBI's Annita Lucchesi.

Nationwide, the voices of Indigenous people have united to raise awareness of missing and murdered Indigenous woman and girls (MMIWG). Though awareness of the crisis is growing, data on the realities of this violence is scarce. To fill this gap, in 2017, Urban Indian Health Institute (UIHI), a tribal epidemiology center, began a study aimed at assessing the number and dynamics of cases of missing and murdered American Indian and Alaska Native women and girls in cities across the United States. This study sought to assess why obtaining data on this violence is so difficult, how law enforcement agencies are tracking and responding to these cases, and how media is reporting on them. *The contents of this report may be triggering.

Sexual Violence is a reality all too many Native women face, and little attention is brought to the issue. UIHI is bringing attention to it and encouraging the community to do the same. On August 23, 2018, we released a report detailing the alarming statistics surrounding sexual violence against predominantly low-income or homeless Native women living in Seattle. *This report contains strong language about sexual violence against Native women.

A research study addressing the lacking report Washington State Patrol released about the MMIWG. Published 2019.

This study is a preliminary estimate of the cost of doing nothing to prevent many Indigenous women and girls from going missing and being murdered. It gives an insight into the emotional journeys of the families left behind. It also assesses the current financial cost of dealing with this tragedy based on calculations drawn from the literature and estimates of the number of MMIWG in Manitoba.

The National Inquiry’s Final Report reveals that persistent and deliberate human and Indigenous rights violations and abuses are the root cause behind Canada’s staggering rates of violence against Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQQIA people. The two volume report calls for transformative legal and social changes to resolve the crisis that has devastated Indigenous communities across the country.
