Frances on her collection: "I love Hello Kitty because she’s cute and cheerful. She reminds me of a baby’s face and one of my friends actually suggested my baby’s face. Most of the items I have are gifts. Many are very cherished and one that stands out was given to me recently from a student who was leaving Albuquerque for graduate school. She left a card with a stuffed Hello Kitty on my desk. The card was written to me in Hello Kitty’s voice and explained to me that she was left in my loving care because space was limited at graduate school. Because of my decorative desk people associate me with Hello Kitty. This is especially fun when patrons of Interlibrary Loan come to the back to ask questions. Most of the time people are very amused and enjoy all the pink! I like to be an ambassador of fun and cheer and I feel Hello Kitty and my desk reflects my merry nature!"
