Citing Basics

APA (American Psychological Association) Style

In psychology, APA Style is usually the preferred citation style for bibliographies and in-text citations.  However, check with your professor to be sure this is the style they recommend for your work. Here are some tools for learning about APA Style:

Creating basic citations

There are many free online citation generator tools.  Try one like Citation Machine which allows you to choose from popular citation styles like APA or use thousands of others - OR - visit this page to see a list of other free recommended citation tools

Also, many of the library's databases have an option that lets you create a citation for any book or article you find.  Look for a button/link when you find an article that says something like "CITE."
