Chicana/Chicano Studies

America West is digitized from the Graff Collection at the Newberry Library in Chicago which is widely regarded as one of the finest collections of Western Americana in existence. It includes unique manuscripts, broadsides and other ephemera, maps and rare printed works ranging from 1722 to 1939, with the heaviest concentration from 1830 to 1939.

Arte Público Hispanic Historical Collection: Series 1 is a digital collection pertaining to U.S. Hispanic literature and culture that includes key aspects of the "Recovering the U.S. Hispanic Literary Heritage Project." The Recovering the U.S. Hispanic Literary Heritage Project is a national project to locate, preserve and disseminate Hispanic culture of the United States in its written form since colonial times until 1960.

Onda Latina consists of 226 digitally preserved audio programs including interviews, music, and informational programs related to the Mexican American community and their concerns from the radio series "The Mexican American Experience" and "A esta hora conversamos" the Longhorn Radio Network, 1976-1982."

John Donald Robb Archive of Southwestern Music. From the University of New Mexico,these digitized field recordings consist of Hispanic, Native American, and Anglo music recorded between 1942-1979 in different parts of New Mexico. The collection contains Hispanic folk music such as the alabado, the pastore, the decimal, and the corrido. Additionally, Native American chants and dances, as well as Anglo cowboy and frontier ballads are represented in the collection.

Farmworker Movement Documentation Project offers primary source accounts by the UFW volunteers who built the movement between 1962-1993.

Making Invisible Histories Visible: Preserving the Legacy of Lesbian / Feminist Activism and Writing in Los Angeles Project is a collaborative project between the CSRC, the UCLA Library, the UCLA Center for the Study of Women (CSW), and the June L. Mazer Lesbian Archives funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. The project documents early Lesbian history in Los Angeles since the 1930s and includes the preservation of 93 archival collections and over 700 hours of recorded sound and moving images that have been digitized and made accessible through the UCLA Digital Library.

Latino Cultural Heritage (Digital Archive) was founded in 1979, the Urban Archives Center has been a part of CSUN’s Oviatt Library since 1992. Today, the Urban Archives Center, along with the Special Collections Department and the University Archives, house many of the rich research collections of CSUN. Before being awarded the HSI grant, the Urban Archives Center already maintained a number of collections documenting Latino/Chicano movements.

National Security Archive provides online access to critical declassified records on issues including U.S. national security, foreign policy, diplomatic and military history, intelligence policy, and more. Updated frequently, the Electronic Briefing Books represent just a small sample of the documents in our published and unpublished collections.

Sam L. Slick Collection of Latin American and Iberian Political Posters from the University of New Mexico is unparalleled in scope internationally, includes works of varying scale printed by serigraphy or offset lithography techniques by such widely known artists as Félix Beltrán, Raúl Martínez, Renú Mederos Pazos, Alfredo Rostgaard, and Eduardo Muñoz Bachs of Cuba; Jesús Ruiz Durand of Peru; and Josú Rosa Castellanos, Antonio Martorell, Rafael Tufiño, and Lorenzo Homar of Puerto Rico.This large collection contains posters from Cuba, El Salvador, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Panama, Nicaragua, and Spain among a few. Over 5,000 of these posters are available here. They address themes such as elections, imperialism, solidarity, human rights, and revolution.
