POLS 2150_Fall 2024

A UNM librarian designed this guide to help you find information and keep it organized for your policy brief assignment

Background Info - the best kept secret

Background information is the key to the policy brief assignment. It's often undervalued, but is the real foundation for learning about any topic.

Background information can be found in encyclopedias, magazine articles, book chapters, and reports. It's not so easy to pull out of academic journal articles.

Library Resources for Background Information

Find these through library.unm.edu > Databases

Click on the "By Type" dropdown menu and choose Reference. This will give you a list of library databases that focus on background information.
