Getting Started: Background Information

These sources can help you identify important concepts, fill in context, and outline the dimensions of a particular issue -- very helpful for when you are first getting started with your research.

Books

Books can also offer a helpful starting point when beginning research. The library collection includes an increasing number of e-books which can be conveniently accessed online, as well as a large print collection.

Choose the "Books Only" tab and search by keyword, author, title, or call number.  Note that this search will search books worldwide.  This may be especially useful if you wish to request the book via Interlibrary Loan (free to students) by using the "Request It" button.
