The Organization, Information, and Learning Sciences program is pleased to welcome Stephanie Moore, Ph.D. to the core faculty as assistant professor. Moore started at the College of University Libraries and Learning sciences in August and has had to navigate in unprecedented times of teaching and working remotely.
Moore received her Bachelor of Arts from Oklahoma Baptist University and her Master of Arts and doctoral degree from the University of Northern Colorado in educational technology. Moore is the Barbara Bush Foundation/Dollar General Foundation Fellow and the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Computing in Higher Education.
Prior to joining the OILS program, she was assistant professor of instructional design & technology in the Curry School of Education and Human Development at University of Virginia where she taught instructional design, performance improvement, online learning, and ethics for learning and workplace technology. Her research and teaching interests include instructional design, performance improvement, online learning, and the ethics of educational technology..
Moore currently teaches Adult Learning within the OILS program. “I am looking forward to teaching on learning sciences and learning theories. It’s also a great way to get to know the students because it’s a required course for all students, and for many students it’s one of the first courses they take. It’s a wonderful way to get to know both the OILS programs and curriculum as well as a great way to get to know our students.” Along with teaching, Moore advises students in their certificate, Master’s and Doctoral work.
The OILS program has been successful in providing all online classes for the fall semester in response to the pandemic. Moore explains that her experience in online learning has made for an easier transition but credits the smooth transition also to her new colleagues. “Even though it’s difficult to network and truly get connected to a lot of people while working or starting work remotely, it’s still possible to do some of that and get going especially when you’re working with folks who understand how to do that and teach how to do that. I would say my own past experience helps but also that of my colleagues helps because all of my colleagues have been fantastic helping me feel like I’m part of the OILS family already.”
