This collection brings together materials from 1809–1971 documenting the relationships between American Indians, the U.S. government, and settlers in the American West. Sources include U.S. National Archives and Chicago History Museum records. Key materials include Bureau of Indian Affairs files and Major Council Meetings of American Indian Tribes, addressing governance, land rights, education, and health.
This collection presents documents from 1650–1920 that detail life and colonial encounters across the frontiers of North America, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.
