In addition to the business journals databases and marketing websites available, there are some very good printed reference works on the Demographic Sources Index Table which provide detailed statistics.
Because marketing and advertising involve behavioral aspects, make sure to check the Subject Guides in Psychology and Sociology if your research leans in that direction.
