Victor Law Appointed OILS Program Director

Victor Law received his Ph.D. in Instructional Psychology and Technology from the University of Oklahoma. He teaches various courses including Instructional Multimedia, Instructional Use of Simulations and Games, Advanced Instructional Technology Seminar, Science Technology and Society and others. His research explores the social aspects of self-regulation in collaborative learning environments. In addition, he has been conducting studies examining the effects of different scaffolding approaches, including educational games and simulations, on students’ complex problem-solving learning outcomes. 

 

Law has published empirical studies in national and international refereed journals such as Computers and Education, Computers in Human Behaviors, Journal of Educational Computing Research, Journal of Educational Technology & Society, Technology, and Interdisciplinary Journal of Problem-based Learning

 

Law has also served in multiple international research communities. Currently, he serves on the editorial board of three journals: Educational Technology Research and Development, Technology, Knowledge and Learning, and Interdisciplinary Journal of Problem-Based Learning. He is also a Board Member of the Design and Development Division of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology. At the college/program level, he has served on the Curriculum Committee and the College Assessment Review Committee starting 2013. He has been chairing those committees since the 2014-2015 academic year.  

In Summer 2014 and Spring 2015, he was the Acting Program Director of OI&LS. Starting Summer 2016, he was the Associate Program Director of OI&LS.  Last year, he led the effort to develop a program under the Managed Online Programs (MOPS). He has been working closely with the OILS faculty and UNM Extended Learning to change the OI&LS curriculum, plan and implement new admission and course schedules, and develop new courses.
